about Melissa
Hey, I'm Melissa. I am passionate about empowering women to set goals and take small steps towards reaching their full potential in career, finance and personal self. I envisioned a business that encourages women to enter the construction industry and strives to create a community that encourages, educates, and embraces women, celebrating our uniqueness and quirks. I believe that working with our hands in the outdoors is a perfect combination for our mental health and embracing a career.
One day, I recognised a significant gap in the construction industry: a lack of job opportunities for women. I realised there was a need for a pathway to encourage women to consider working in construction, even if they couldn't commit to a lengthy four-year apprenticeship. Some women might want to explore the trades but hesitate to take the leap, preferring to test the waters and see if they enjoy working outdoors. To address this need, I established Women Of Trades, a dedicated gutter cleaning crew, to create this pathway.
I acknowledge that everyone has different workability statuses and preferences. Some individuals may only be available for 15 hours a week or during school hours, while others may find their optimal working time starting at 10 am. With this in mind, my vision was to construct a flexible workplace where everyone collaborates, accomplishes tasks, and builds their endurance as part of a unified workforce.
I dream that we will be the number one choice for businesses large and small to contact us to see if we can fill current vacancies in their companies.
I am incredibly proud of the team we have assembled. I greatly admire their resilience, individuality, and their ability to push beyond personal limits, even when faced with challenging circumstances.
